Please come and support protectors against fracking at Kirby Misperton - 19th September.

You may be aware that Third Energy are about to begin fracking at Kirby Misperton.

The official date for the start of their operations, is Tuesday 19th September, although some work seems to be being started already around the site, and fencing has been erected at the site entrance.

In addition to the Kirby Misperton Protection Camp, which was established at the beginning of this year, there is now a camp at the entrance to the site (postcode is YO17 6XS), and there have already been some interventions by police there, who are facilitating vehicles into and out of the site, although there have not been any arrests to date.

Anyone who is able to go to the site entrance to support those protectors already there, will be most welcome - even if they can only go for a short time.

The more people who can have a presence there, the better, and the protectors are keen that as many people as possible, join them. People can make whatever type of peaceful protest they feel comfortable with - holding a banner, standing at the gates, joining the protectors to slow down the movement of vehicles at the site, etc..

We've seen in Lancashire, that large numbers of protectors can have a positive effect at slowing progress, and it's hoped that this can also be the case at Kirby Misperton. (It's likely that fracking will begin here, before it begins in Lancashire, as the well is already drilled, having been used previously, for the conventional extraction of gas).

There are active Facebook and Twitter groups for the site; Kirby Misperton Protection Camp on Facebook, and @KMProtectors, on Twitter.
