20 January 2015
Harrogate & District Green Party present the 3rd event in the popular Harrogate Futures Forum series.
Having already considered the hot topics of immigration and the global TTIP trade deal, we now turn our attention to the National Health Service.
We will be showing a riveting and alarming new film "Sell Off: The Abolition of the NHS". This film is radical. With over a dozen NHS insiders as witnesses, Peter Bach tells the alarming story of how the health service as we know it is being quietly abolished. Almost without our noticing, it’s been replaced by a system modelled on the US in which care is delivered by profit-maximising companies that charge patients for treatment - treatment which will anyway be restricted and reduced.
Likely to be the key issue in the forthcoming General Election - potentially affecting every one of us - we debate what needs to be done to enable the NHS to survive and flourish as demands upon it continue to grow.
The showing and subsequent discussion will be chaired by Shan Oakes, the Green Party's parliamentary candidate for Harrogate & Knaresborough constituency in the May 2015 General Election.
This event will be held on Tuesday, 20 January at 7.30pm at Friends Meeting House, 12a Queen Parade, Harrogate. All are welcomed to attend to watch the film and join the debate. Please come along to share your experience of the NHS and your views on how it needs to move forward.
