Local Green Party Members were among almost two hundred people who turned out with the Woodland Trust on Saturday 29th June to say NO to a proposed relief road which would not only ruin our beautiful Nidd Gorge but also bring more traffic to our area rather than reduce congestion in town.

Building a new road would cause unacceptable environmental damage to the Nidd Gorge wildlife haven, to the fabulous Nidderdale Greenway which welcomes thousands of walkers, horse riders and cyclists, and to homes on Forest Moor and Harrogate Golf Club. Furthermore, with the threat of human induced climate change and soaring levels of road pollution, we should be looking at transport solutions that reduce car use such as public transport and active transpot options inclucing improved walking and cycling routes.
